Kodiak Island AlaskaKodiak Island Wildlife

Your Kodiak Island adventure is not complete until you have taken in all of the scenery and wildlife Kodiak Island has to offer. Kodiak’s 16 major and countless smaller islands make up the Kodiak archipelago, which is nearly 5,000 square miles, making it the second largest island in the United States. Kodiak Island is nicknamed “Alaska’s Emerald Island.”

During your stay at Kodiak Adventures Lodge you can experience whales breaching, seals and sea lions swimming or sunning themselves, and playful river otters slipping in and out of the water. As you look up you can see bald eagles as they soar overhead, and you might even catch a glimpse of mountain goats feeding on their steep perches. In the hills and along the beaches, Sitka blacktail deer can be spotted quite frequently. The ever elusive Kodiak brown bear roams the hillsides until the salmon return to spawn in the freshwater streams that surround the lodge. You might even see a sow teaching her cubs how to fish for spawning salmon and a red fox sneaking around for a leftover morsel.

There are many more animals that abound in the Kodiak archipelago including an abundant variety of sea birds and shore birds.

No matter what season you come to Kodiak Adventure Lodge, the scenery is always spectacular which will make your experience unforgettable enough that you will have memories for a lifetime. So come and stay with us as your Alaska adventure is waiting.
